Giclee Prints

Giclee prints (zhee-clay) are high resolution, archival quality digital prints produced with the ink-jet process using special pigmented inks that are long lasting and water resistant.  Giclees are recognized as fine art prints just like lithographs and serigraphs and should be treated similarly to oil paintings. The quality of giclee prints rivals traditional silver-halide and gelatin printing processes and is commonly found n museums and art galleries. Artist find giclee prints advantageous because they can market and sell reproductions as needed.

Kessler Color Imaging uses only the highest quality and state of the art processes and paper, which are pH neutral and acid free. Because optical brighteners are restricted and pigmented inks lack the gamut of dye based inks, images on some art papers may appear less saturated (when compared to a photograph, or a gloss giclee). Papers we use which may limit apparent gamut include Hahnemuehle Hot Press Rag and William Turner Watercolor. The lack of optical brightners causes both Hot Press Rag and Watercolor paper to exhibit an off-white base color.
